Hyperspectral - LiDAR Research Group

Welcome to the Hyperspectral - LiDAR Research Group. Our area of interest lies in the exploration of the synergies between hyperspectral (imaging spectroscopy) and LiDAR (Light detection and Ranging) data. We apply these data to a number of different environmental issues ranging from forest inventory to forest health to the mapping and evaluation of wetland environments. We work with government, industry and other university academics in addressing these issues.

We operate, in concert with Terra Remote Sensing Inc. in Sidney, B.C., two airborne platform observatories that combine multiple sensors - one fixed wing and one helicopter-based. The data generated by these multisensor systems provide us with an unprecedented data set that yields insight into both form and functioning of multiscale environments.
